TCL Roku 65" QLED - T-Con Board Failure (October 2025)

TCL Roku QLED T-Con board with ribbon cable connections

Bulging capacitors on T-Con board

New capacitors installed - vertical lines eliminated
TCL Roku TV came in with vertical lines across the screen. Classic T-Con board failure.
The T-Con (Timing Control) board is responsible for controlling the LCD panel. When it fails, you get vertical or horizontal lines.
Identifying the Problem
Vertical lines running down the screen. The picture was visible but completely obscured by the lines.
This is a telltale sign of T-Con board failure.
Diagnosis Process
Opened it up. The T-Con board had several bulging capacitors. These were causing the failure.
The T-Con board is connected to the LCD panel via ribbon cables. If the board fails, the panel can't display properly.
The Repair
Replaced all the capacitors on the T-Con board: - 6x 1000µF 10V (replaced with 1000µF 16V 105°C) - 4x 470µF 25V (replaced with 470µF 35V 105°C)
Did NOT replace the LCD panel. That would have been $300+. Just replaced the T-Con board capacitors.
Testing and Verification
Powered it up. No more vertical lines. Picture was perfect.
Let it run for 24 hours to make sure everything was stable.
Cost Analysis
T-Con board capacitor replacement: $60 Labor: 1 hour Total: $90
New LCD panel: $300+ New TV: $600+
The customer saved $500+ by repairing the T-Con board instead of replacing the panel or TV.
Why This Matters
Many people think vertical lines mean the LCD panel is dead. But often it's just the T-Con board.
Component-level repair can save you thousands.
